- SVSjoerd V.Verified BuyerReviewingOG Crowd Pleaser SofaI recommend this productRated 3 stars1 year agoNot as great as it looks
It’s a great looking couch, but unfortunately it’s not as stable and structurally sound as I’d expect for the $3,000+ price tag You can easily lift one leg of the sofa a few inches without any of the other legs lifting which is never a good sign. The tiniest movements by someone causes vibrations that are very noticeable by someone on the other end of the sofa. On the cushions: we have the trillium+foam cushions and they’re “ok”. You’re supposed to fluff them, but there’s really no way to do so without completely opening up the cushions. And even if you do so, the effect will be gone in 5-10 minutes of sitting on them.
I can’t recommend the accompanying ottoman. Ours was filled very unevenly leading to one side being much higher than the other. At first I thought it would even out over time, but 9 months in it still looks the same. Not worth the $1,200 at all.

I'm not an Instagram influencer or interior designer. I’m just a person who lives on my couch. In spite of the fact I have a kitchen island & dining room table, I usually eat on the sofa—cuz ‘Merica. I sit there while I cross stitch, read, watch Netflix, and sometimes while I work from home. All in all, I would say my couch sees a lot of (in)activity.
It has never before occurred to me to spend a mortgage payment on a sofa. The couch I got from Value City lasted 9 years and its replacement, also from Value City, lasted four. It would have been more had the movers not damaged. Frankly, I would have purchased the exact same sofa again if it was still available. But it wasn't & I couldn't find a sofa I liked until I stumbled on Benchmade Modern. I had some concerns, including limited reviews and very little social media presence (odd for an online retailer), but decided to consider them.
I ordered samples & got an absurd number: 29. I just wanted gray but had to order the white, black, & gray sample box. I think people who want either a white or a black couch very specifically want those things. Those are also the two easiest colors to stain or ruin, so not an option for many people. Me included. I saw they had some fabrics rated as pet friendly. As a pet owner I know certain fabrics are out, but having something specifically rated as pet-friendly sounded perfect. One if the samples, Graham charcoal, was almost identical to my current sofa, so I did everything I could…
- KKayteVerified BuyerReviewingOG Crowd Pleaser SofaI recommend this productRated 4 stars1 year agoWe love it...but
We have owned the couch for a few months now, and for the most part, really enjoy it. The downside...the pillows constantly need to be fluffed and realigned (taking the insert out and struggling with it to make it look full and even in the case) a few times a week. If you don't mind your couch pillows looking a bit deshevaled and a bit sloppy...the couch is awesome.

I am more than happy with the sofa! Ordered in McGee Flint color with espresso legs. It is well made, looks beautiful and it’s super comfortable. Will order more from this collection.

Crowd Pleaser’s versatile design nailed all the requirements of my tiny apartment. The low back height and loose cushions allow me to reposition the cushions when I want to watch TV (tiny apartment = TV is mounted on a side wall instead of directly in front of the sofa), and I can also move the cushions out of the way when my window-unit AC is turned on. Brilliant!
Extra kudos to Bench Made’s excellent customer service. Initially, I was concerned that the cushions would be too tall, so they promised to work with me to design custom, lower-profile cushions. (Turns out I did not need them.)
I chose the “Addison Charcoal” fabric from the standard selection because I love the color, but the fabric has turned out to be difficult to maintain. It attracts all kinds of lint, which is hard to vacuum off even though I vacuum it every couple days. And the fabric already shows pilling and loose threads in spots, which is really disappointing after only a few months especially given how much I paid for the sofa. I owned my last sofa for 10 years and never had these issues. Not sure if the premium fabrics would avoid this problem, but I am really worried that I’ll need to replace this sofa sooner than I’d like because of the upholstery wear.
In sum, brilliant design but the execution still needs work.
