Hamptons Showhouse Style with Jewel Marlowe

For the Hamptons Designer Showhouse, interior designer Jewel Marlowe transformed a lounge just off the primary bedroom into a luxurious, layered retreat. Bold color, pattern and unexpected details come together with rich textiles, custom lighting and a BenchMade Modern skirted sofa at the heart of it all.

Nicknamed "The Nest", this space was imagined as an intimate family lounge: the kind of space made for winding down at the end of the day, curling up with the kids, or sneaking away for a little quiet. Its name is a nod to Jewel’s own family - and a reminder of just how quickly the years with kids at home can fly by.

A Room That Rewards a Second Look

Jewel is known for using repeated shapes, colors and motifs to tell a story throughout a space, and The Nest is packed with details worth discovering.

Ombre appears again and again, from the Stark carpet to the lichen art installation and oversized chandelier. Neoclassical influences weave through the room in the molding, an antique Klismos chair, end tables and Greek key trim along the drapery.

Overhead, an ethereal chandelier echoes the dramatic, “drippy” shape of the custom valance. Even the mirror placement was carefully considered, hung at just the right height to catch the chandelier in its reflection.

And then there are the materials. A lush tree mural wraps the room in greenery, visually connecting the interior to the treeline just outside. Animal prints—a Jewel Marlowe signature - show up in decidedly unexpected ways, including non-traditional snakeskin and rich red leopard velvet.

A Fresh Approach to Hamptons Style

Rather than leaning into the breezy blues and coastal neutrals often associated with Hamptons style, Jewel went in a much bolder direction.

Case in point: the red-malachite doors, which bring another layer of color and drama to the room while balancing the statement drapery opposite them. A uniquely colored peacock reinforces The Nest theme with a touch of Regency-inspired whimsy, while a sculptural drinks cabinet and geometric hardware echo the shapes of the warm-toned coffee table.

The beach isn't completely forgotten, though. A pair of playful photographs and rattan sofa tables tucked behind the sofa offer a subtle wink to the showhouse's coastal setting- without turning the room into a seaside cliché.

Designed to be Lived In

For all of its showstopping details, what we love most about The Nest is the idea behind it - a space to connect with those closest to you.

We were thrilled to be a part of Jewel's vision for the Hamptons Designer Showhouse. Congratulations to Jewel and the many craftspeople, workrooms, construction crews, partners and team members who brought The Nest to life in just six weeks. The finished space is proof that sometimes, more really is more.
